Carina was established in 2013 by the managers of Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association Limited, Tindall Riley Limited. It acts as a coverholder underwriting P&I and Legal Defence covers on behalf of various Lloyd’s

Carina provides P&I cover for vessels up to 5,000 gross tons with policy limits of liability of up to USD 500 million.

In 2017 Carina’s premium income and tonnage reduced by 22% and 7% respectively, with dry barges accounting for 62% of all insured tonnage.

In addition to P&I cover, Carina also offers a combined product for yacht owners, covering Hull and Machinery, Personal Accident and Fine Art risks as well as recently launching a product for European Inland Waterways.
